Could there be a Michael Vick-DeSean Jackson reunion in New York?
The New York Jets have inquired with the Philadelphia Eagles about wide receiver Jackson's availability, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Thursday. Rapoport noted that the Jets are scheduled to meet with the free-agent quarterback Vick on Friday.
The chances of Jackson returning to the Eagles next season are reportedly dim, and the team is looking for a trade partner. Thus far, the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots have been mentioned as potential landing spots.
"There is no way he’s an Eagle this year," a source close to Jackson told the Allentown Morning Call this week. "However it leaked out, it leaked out, and now this is what you have."
Jackson caught 82 passes last season for a career-best 1,332 yards, which was also good for ninth in the NFL. Jackson also tied his career high with nine touchdowns, while averaging 16.2 yards per reception. Jackson is two years into a five-year deal worth $51 million, with a $10.25 million base salary in 2014.
