Former Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel had the football world buzzing on Thursday afternoon following an impressive pro day performance in front of 30 of the 32 NFL teams. Manziel went through a scripted workout for scouts, coaches and general managers from around the league that also caught the attention of a pair of superstar professional athletes and a former president.
The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner has yet to play a down in the NFL, but ringing endorsements from LeBron James and Michael Vick suggest that Manziel is already a star.
Nike capitalized on the attention Manziel's pro day generated by immediately placing a "Johnny Manziel Pro Day" section in the online Nike Shop.
If that wasn't enough, Manziel hung out with former president George H.W. Bush, who showed up at Texas A&M's indoor facility on a golf cart to take in the workout with his wife Barbara and the family dogs.
Manziel is certainly a talented player who may have what it takes to succeed in the NFL, but teams will need to determine whether or not his talent and potential are worth the waves of media attention and scrutiny that have already begun to follow his every move at the next level.
