Rob Ryan's already strong defense bolstered its secondary on Friday, with 12-time Pro Bowler Champ Bailey agreeing to a two-year deal with the Saints. The news was first reported by ESPN's Mike Triplett.

The Broncos released Bailey earlier in the offseason, but the 35-year-old wanted to extend his 15-year career, and he'll do so in New Orleans.

The future Hall of Famer has 52 career interceptions, but none since Dec. 6, 2012, and he had a lingering foot injury much of last season. He played only five regular-season games last year before returning for the playoffs and his first-ever trip to the Super Bowl.

The Saints signed free-agent safety Jairus Byrd from the Bills last month, and already have a standout cornerback in Keenan Lewis, who they signed last offseason.

After allowing 4,681 passing yards in 2012 (31st in the league), the Saints were second in the league in passing defense at 194.1 per game (3,105 total) last year.
