Jim Brown doesn't see many great running backs currently in NFL

Jim Brown is arguably the best running back to ever step on to an NFL field, so when he speaks about players at the position, we all listen. Brown recently discussed the landscape of today's NFL, and he made it clear that he does not currently see any great rushers in the league today.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer says that a big reason for running backs being unable to showcase their talents is because of the adopted "running back by committee" strategy that a number of teams have taken.

“Who are the running backs who aren’t getting the ball today who should be?” Brown said, via the Northeast Ohio Media Group.

BANKS: Browns’ misery over last 20 years remains unmatched

Adrian Peterson isn’t running by committee. Nobody is going to tell me Marshawn Lynch can’t run. He’s strong as an ox. I don’t have the answers, but it doesn’t bother me. ... I’m looking at the exceptions to the rule, not the rule. ... As we sit here, I can’t name seven great runners. Can you?”

While many teams today are sharing the workload out of the backfield, Brown believes his talent would still earn him the bulk of the carries.

“I believe if I were playing the game today, I would still get the ball as much as I did all those years ago,” Brown said.

As far as talented rushers go, Peterson could be as good as they come, but the lack of weapons around him has allowed teams to stack the box and focus solely on stopping the run.
