NFL legend Roger Staubach says Johnny Manziel 'is a Russell Wilson-type player'

I'm not sure how Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will take the comparison, but Roger Staubach's endorsement of Johnny Manziel should sit well with the former Texas A&M signal caller.

The legendary NFL quarterback appeared on NFL AM on Wednesday morning (find the full clip below) and not only suggested that Manziel "is a Russell Wilson-type player," but also said he believed the Houston Texans should select Manziel over South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney with the number one overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Important to note is that Staubach was asked specifically whether he would take Clowney or Manziel with the No. 1 pick.

"He doesn't have the height, he has a strong arm, he throws with accuracy," Staubach said of Manziel.

Staubach, who went 2-2 in Super Bowls as the Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback, stated that there's just "something" about Manziel, a sentiment many others have shared as well.

Of course, just because Clowney and Manziel have been linked to the Texans doesn't guarantee Houston will be drafting either player, though they do currently appear to be the rumored favorites, especially after longtime Houston Chronicle writer (and well plugged in beat man) John McClain placed Johnny Manziel at the top of his most recent mock draft.
