Aldon Smith reports for San Francisco 49ers offseason workouts
One might say the future of Aldon Smith is rather cloudy.
The San Francisco 49ers linebacker is dealing with a false bomb threat, three felony weapons charges, and he might not play for the 49ers this season, according to a report. So how did he and the 49ers deal with the first day of voluntary offseason workouts at the team facility?
For his part, Smith showed up Monday afternoon and joined the likes of Colin Kaepernick and NaVorro Bowman to do simple conditioning drills and weight training activities, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area. For their part, the 49ers chose not to put on their website any photos or videos of Smith to go along with the ones of other high profile players that they did publish.
According to Maiocco, "If the 49ers had no intention of allowing Smith to play this season, it's questionable whether they would allow him to take part in the team’s offseason program. He is scheduled to make a fully guaranteed $2.336 million in base salary in 2014."The former Missouri star is facing potential jail time if found guilty on any of the previously mentioned charges, so an NFL suspension is likely the least of his worries at this point.
