Dallas Cowboys reportedly showing interest in Johnny Manziel

Could Johnny Manziel play for the Dallas Cowboys this season?

Seems a bit ludicrous a first, but there have been reports of Manziel (and other quarterbacks) falling in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft. Add in the fact that the Cowboys (who pick 16th) are interested in the enigma that is Johnny Manziel, and the idea of the former Aggie and Texas native playing in Big D doesn't seem so outlandish.

ESPN's Ed Werder threw fuel on the fire Wednesday afternoon by suggesting that the Cowboys could draft Manziel if he was available at No. 16, a sentiment backed up by an NFL scout, who informed Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report that Jerry Jones would  eagerly take the plunge on Johnny Football.

The Cowboys are in serious need of defensive help and many assumed Dallas would attempt to re-tool that unit in the draft. But that was before Manziel and others started slipping on draft boards.

With Tony Romo battling nagging injuries and now 34-years-old (not to mention a backup situation that only includes Brandon Weeden), it's within reason that the Cowboys could add a young signal-caller to groom. Of course, drafting Manziel would create a quarterback controversy, though the Cowboys don't appear concerned about being a hotbed for distractions.
