Jadeveon Clowney thinks Houston Texans will take him No. 1 in 2014 NFL draft Jadeveon Clowney has been called a once-in-a-decade prospect. (Scott Cunningham for SI)

The Houston Texans are currently the owners of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft. That could change of course, as they've reportedly been involved in trade talks, but for now it's the Texans on the clock when the draft officially kicks off Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET.

Assuming they keep the selection, who could they take? They've been linked to several prospects, but former South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney believes he has the answer: himself.

When asked if the Texans would regret passing on him, Clowney suggested he didn't believe they would pass on him, finishing his comment off with a rye smile.

There's a few lines of thought here. One could be that Clowney is simply playing with the media, or that he's stating his opinion that he deserves to be the first overall selection. Or, of course, Clowney could have already heard from the team.

It was certainly a unique way to answer the question, as we've seen fellow players give the standard response, suggesting said team would regret the decision down the road.

Clowney has already hinted that current Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is a "role model" of his, and very soon, they could be teammates. [si_video id="video_9BE32E8D-898C-B19B-6BC8-CCE14808B6B8" height="470"]
