For the past few months, we've heard hints suggesting that the Atlanta Falcons and wide receiver Roddy White would eventually begin work on hashing out a contract extension.

That has not yet come to pass, however, possibly because of White's nasty ankle sprain which derailed a good portion of his 2013 season.

Regardless, after proving himself healthy and set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the 2014 season, White is looking for his new deal.

Not wanting to let White even entertain the thought of free agency, the Falcons are set to begin work on a contract extension with him in the near future, according to ESPN's Vaughn McClure:

Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said he would revisit contract extensions after free agency and the NFL draft.

Well, the free-agency frenzy and draft have concluded.

Dimitroff and the Falcons can now address unfinished business regarding some of their veterans. One player who immediately comes to mind is receiver Roddy White, who anticipated receiving an extension after the draft, not anytime sooner.

McClure goes on to suggest that Atlanta could offer White a deal similar to the contract offered by the Indianapolis Colts to Reggie Wayne two seasons ago, which paid Wayne $17.5 million dollars over three seasons.

White, 32, has stated a desire to play another three or four seasons.
