The Dallas Cowboys continually dominate the NFL when it comes to off-field headlines and fan support, but the on-field product has seen better days.

After a disappointing 8-8 campaign in 2013, defensive back Brandon Carr says he and his team are looking to take over the NFL this season. Carr, who claims he's in the best shape of his life, dropped ten pounds and is ready to dominate the league, according to the Star-Telegram.

“I’m trying to take over the league,” Carr said while attending the team’s 10th annual Taste of the NFL to tackle childhood hunger. “I get emotional when I say that because I’m dead serious, man. I’ve been playing this game for six years now, and I’m just ready to make that jump and become that shutdown corner.”

While it's a nice mindset, Carr is coming off a horrid season in which he gave up 62 catches, which ranked third-worst among NFL defensive backs. An improved Carr, who will be entering the third year of his five-year, $50.1 million contract, would help the woeful Cowboys secondary.

It may help that he won't be stuck in too many zone schemes this season, as the Cowboys plan to shift to more man defensive sets.
