Toronto-based group interested in buying Buffalo Bills reconsidering decision?
For months we've heard rumors suggesting that a Toronto-based group (which reportedly includes Jon Bon Jovi) was looking to bid on the Buffalo Bills when they hit the market.
At times, it almost seemed as if it was a foregone conclusion that the group would enter bidding but according to Tim Graham of the Buffalo News, the investors could be having second thoughts on the potential purchase.
Before previous Bills owner Ralph Wilson passed away, it was thought relocating the Bills franchise would be rather easy. However, after Wilson's passing, detailed emerged about the team's lease with the city/county, including the fact that the team's lease runs through the 2022 season. There is a reported one-year buyout window, but many NFL owners are hoping to keep the franchise in Buffalo and the investment group may have concerns about their ability to move the franchise given the questions surrounding the team. What we do know is that the Bills will need a new stadium to remain in upstate New York. So far there hasn't been much progress with those efforts, though as we've seen in the past, stadium proposals often take until the last minute to pick up steam.
