Santonio Holmes, James Harrison want to return to Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are working to get younger on both sides of the ball, but there are two veteran players who used to play for the team interested in returning to the Steel City.

During his weekly TribLive Radio show, Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor said Santonio Holmes and James Harrison are interested in returning to the Steelers and finishing their careers with the team.

"It's for sure the both of them want to come back. I've talked to both of them," Taylor said.

If you don't recall, Harrison helped give the Steelers a 17-7 halftime lead over the Cardinals when he posted a Super Bowl record 100-yard interception return for a touchdown. Holmes, who had legal issues derail his time in Pittsburgh, was the man who hauled in an incredible six-yard touchdown that gave the Steelers the win.

Unfortunately for Holmes and Harrison, the Steelers have moved on.

The team currently has Jarvis Jones and Jason Worilds playing at outside linebacker, while Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant are a promising young receiving corp.

It would be a longshot for either Holmes or Harrison to find their way back to Pittsburgh on anything more than a one-day contract once they decide to hang up their cleats, but if injuries begin to pile up for Pittsburgh you can never count out a reunion that would make the veterans happy.
