While the word 'spectacular' has never been something linked to the play of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton, new offensive coordinator Hue Jackson has been impressed with the quarterback during OTAs and hasn't been able to stop raving about the TCU product to local media.

Marred by inconsistent play during his first few seasons in the league, Dalton can at times look like a Pro Bowl signal-caller. Conversely, he can just as quickly revert into a quarterback who looks like he should be holding a clipboard on the sidelines.

Entering his fourth season, Dalton will be playing in a contract year and understandably will be looking to cash in.

So far so good, at least according to Jackson.

"[Dalton is] spectacular," Jackson said. "It’s the first time I’ve been able to work with him hands on. He has all the characteristics I like in a quarterback. He’s smart, he comes to work prepared and ready to go, and he comes to the practice field ready to compete. He can make all the necessary throws. I haven’t see any throw he can’t make."

Of course, Jackson is aware that Dalton's consistency needs to improve, something upon which all Bengals fans readily agree. But it seems as if the quarterback may have turned a page, especially in regard to the poor decision making that has plagued him over the course of his short career.
