Lightning's Lecavalier out for rest of season

Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier will have wrist surgery and miss the last five games of the season.

The team said Thursday he will have arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist Friday in Philadelphia. The operation originally was scheduled for last summer but was delayed because Lecavalier needed shoulder surgery. He also had surgery on his left wrist two years ago.

Lecavalier is a four-time All-Star center who has played in all 77 games this season. He leads the team with 29 goals and is second with 67 points.

Lecavalier signed an 11-year, $85 million contract extension last July. He led Tampa Bay to its only Stanley Cup title five years ago.
