Buffalo Sabres announce signing of defenseman Andre Benoit to a one-year deal.

The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenseman Andre Benoit to a one-year deal, the team announced Wednesday.

Benoit, 30, scored seven goals and recorded 21 assists in 79 games with the Colorado Avalanche in 2013-14.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder has also played parts of two seasons with the Ottawa Senators since Montreal signed him to an entry-level contract in 2006.

The Sabres went 21-51 and finished in last place in the Eastern Conference last season.
