The National Hockey League has decided against placing sponsor logos on jerseys, reports TSN

According to the report, the league is forgoing a possible $120 million annually by not having sponsorships on uniforms.

The only advertising on the jerseys is from Reebok, which manufactures the jerseys. Reebok's deal with the NHL ends in 2016.

No North American sports leagues are currently allowing ads to be placed on jerseys, but several NHL team has ads on their practice gear. One of TSN's sources said that the NHL doesn't want to be the first North American league to add sponsor logos to uniforms:

"Gary (Bettman) and owners like the money, but they don't want to be first out of the box with this in North America," the person told TSN. "They'll wait for the NBA or baseball to do it and then be second or third."
