Predators' defenseman Ryan Ellis signs five-year, $12.5 million deal

Nashville Predators signed defenseman Ryan Ellis to a five-year, $12.5 million contract, keeping with the team through the 2018-19 season.

The Nashville Predators signed defenseman Ryan Ellis to a five-year, $12.5 million contract, the team announced Friday

Ellis, 23, scored six goals and recorded 21 assists with a +9 rating in 80 games last season for the Predators.

The team said Ellis will make $1.5 million next season, $2 million in 2015-16, $2.5 million in 2016-17, $3 million in 2017-18 and $3.5 million in 2018-19.

Ellis was the team’s first round pick in the 2009 Draft and has 44 points in 144 career games.
