The agent for Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Paul Martintold the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that his client is “open to contract talks as long as they aren't a distraction to the team.”

Martin, 33, who makes $5 million this season, is in the final year of his contract and becomes an unrestricted free agent after the season if he is not re-signed by the team.

“There is no time frame right now,” Martin's agent, Ben Hankinson said. “I'm focusing on the season. I'm sure we'll come to it.”

Martin is in his fifth season with the team after spending the first six seasons of his NHL career with the New Jersey Devils.
