Tim Thompson might not be a household name but his work is instantly recognizable. The creative mastermind behind the montages that were a staple of CBC's Hockey Night In Canada broadcasts, Thompson has a unique gift for melding video, still images and musical accompaniment in a way that shaped the evening's narrative or perfectly captured the life and times of the game.

Jean Béliveau, the ultimate Canadien and Canadian

Thompson remained with Hockey Night when it was taken over by Rogers Communications, but his montages were cast aside in favor of more modern bells and whistles. And they've been sorely missed.

Check it out. And Rogers? You might want to consider re-assigning Thompson to his old duties.
