Olli Maatta’s season is likely over.

According to a report from Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Maatta will be sidelined for the rest of the 2014-15 season with a shoulder injury.

Streaky Blue Jackets now in serious playoff bubble trouble

Maatta’s shoulder, which has held him out of  the Penguins lineup since Dec. 6, “has not responded satisfactorily to rehabilitation efforts.”

This isn’t Maatta’s first medical issue this season as he missed time after having a tumor removed from his thyroid. He was also one of numerous NHLers diagnosed with the mumps this season.

In 20 games this year, Maatta has racked up nine points, eight of them on assists.
