Barry Trotz found himself in an unfamiliar position on Friday night: the away team bench at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

On Friday, the former longtime coach of the Predators returned to Nashville and was welcomed with a standing ovation and video presentation by his former employer. Now the Capitals coach, Trotz was, until his firing at the end of the 2013-14 season, the only coach of the expansion club since its inception. Over 15 seasons, Trotz won 557 games as Nashville's head coach.
