Mike Smith is going to want this one back.

The Arizona Coyotes goaltender allowed a fluke goal off a dump-in from Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist on Thursday night in Detroit. Just 18 seconds after Niklas Kronwall scored to lift the Wings to a 2–0 lead, Nyquist flipped a puck in on Smith, and the bounce caught him by surprise, finding its way over his right pad.

Detroit went on to beat Arizona 5–1.

The Coyotes entered Thursday third in the Pacific Division with a 13–10–1 record. Smith has appeared in 19 games this season, with a 10–6–1 record, 2.89 goals against average and .908 save percentage.
