New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh will miss Monday’s game against the Devils with a concussion, the team announced.

McDonagh was punched in the face by Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds in Saturday’s 3–2 shootout win. Simmonds was ejected from the game after receiving an intent to injure penalty. Afterwards, he threw his stick, which earned him a misconduct, Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said on Monday. The misconduct carries an automatic three-game suspension, but Simmonds was not disciplined for his hit.

“Wonder what would happen if it was Crosby,” Vigneault told reporters.

The Rangers host the Flyers on Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
