The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Nazem Kadri and defenseman Morgan Rielly to six-year contracts, the team announced Wednesday.
Kadri was Toronto's leader in points this season, tallying 45 (17 goals, 28 assists) in 76 games. His 17 goals were third most on the team, behind P.A. Parenteau (20) and Leo Komarov (19).
Rielly played in all 82 games for Toronto, leading the team’s defensemen in points with 36 (nine goals, 27 assists).
The Maple Leafs (29–42) finished last in the Atlantic Division and missed the playoffs for the third straight season. Toronto has only qualified for the playoffs once over the last 10 seasons, but its 30th-place finish this season ensures that it will have the best odds of winning the first pick in June's NHL Entry Draft.
