Blues captain David Backes beat Stars goalie Antti Niemi in overtime on Sunday to give St. Louis a 4–3 win and tie its playoff series against Dallas at 1–1.

Backes put a rebound past Niemi’s left pad at 10:58 in the extra period.

For Backes, it was his second OT goal of the playoffs, following his winner in Game 1 of the Blues’ series against the Blackhawks, as well as a great way to celebrate his 32nd birthday.

Troy Brouwer scored a goal and added an assist for St. Louis, and was named the game’s first star. The series will head to St. Louis for Tuesday's Game 3.
