Auston Matthews powers Team USA to World semis

The Toronto Maple Leafs won the draft lottery and will make the first selection. Arizona-born forward Auston Matthews is a lock to go No. 1. The 18-year-old spent the season playing in the Swiss league and is expected to arrive fully-formed as a franchise center.

The Leafs currently hold a league-high 12 selections, including two in each of the first four rounds. Winnipeg, Arizona, Carolina and Boston also are set to make two first-round picks. The host Sabres have 11 picks, including three in the third round. The Calgary Flames, another rebuilding club, will make three selections in the second round.

The New York Rangers, who traded away both of their first- and second-round selections in separate deals, will be the last team to step up to the microphone. Their first pick will come in the third round (81st).

Here's the order of selection, subject to upcoming trades.
