The Rangers have signed free-agent forward Jimmy Vesey, the team announced Friday.

Vesey was selected by the Predators in the third round of the 2012 NHL draft. He has yet to play a game professionally, instead opting to play at Harvard from 2012–16 before entering the league as a free-agent.

Vesey was traded to the Sabres earlier this summer, but did not sign with the team during Buffalo’s exclusive negotiating rights period. After becoming a free agent, Vesey met with numerous clubs before ultimately choosing the Rangers.

In addition to Harvard, Vesey has played internationally for the United States, winning a bronze with the team during the 2015 world championships.
