Brace your eyes: Canada's ugly Olympic third jersey revealed
Hockey Canada still hasn't officially revealed the jerseys that Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews and, hopefully, Ken Dryden circa 1970 will wear when the defending gold medalists take to the ice in Sochi next February. I'm not surprised by the secrecy. I remember putting off showing a failing grade to my parents as long as I could, too.
But you know how things are these days. It's tough to prevent spoilers when you've got Getty Images doing photo shoots. Or, you know, you're sending the jerseys out to retailers.
That's apparently what happened here. And someone who received a shipment was only to happy to post an image up on Reddit as soon as the new threads came into his store.
Hey, the red and whites could have been worse. After seeing what horrors Nike foisted on the Americans and Russians, the annoying design elements on Canada's home and road sweaters -- the fake laces, the glossy pattern on the shoulders, and the precious gold-medal tribute along the front left hem -- aren't all that tough to stomach.
But then there's the predominantly black third jersey that looks like cigarette packaging or worse, something that Hugo Boss might have designed about 75 years ago. That one's not being well received.
One red armband? Really?
