The Paterno family has scheduled three days of public memorial events this week and the private funeral on Wednesday for the legendary former Penn State coach Joe Paterno according to ESPN.
A pair of public viewing sessions will be held at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on the campus of Penn State. One will be held Tuesday afternoon through the evening and the other will be held the following morning.
Paterno will reportedly be buried in a private funeral service later in the day on Wednesday. A public memorial service will then be held Thursday afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center, the basketball arena next to Beaver Stadium.
Paterno died on Sunday at age 85, less than three months after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He finished his career with the 409 wins, the most in NCAA Division I history. He had served as Penn State’s head football coach for 46 years.
