Olympic champion Jordan Burroughs of the United States has withdrawn from the 2016 World Cup of Freestyle Wrestling as he and his wife Lauren await the the birth of their second child, USA Wrestling announced.

The World Cup will be held at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on June 11-12.

"I wanted to be there for the birth and to make sure Lauren was home and doing well before I went to wrestle. I can't consciously, as a father and a husband, leave my wife before the birth or when she is still in the hospital. I want to be there for her. It was an extremely tough decision for me. It was a family priority decision," Burroughs said in a statement.

Burroughs already has his spot for the 2016 Olympics locked up. He has won four-straight gold medals at the World Cup.

Burroughs may return to competition at the Grand Prix of Germany in Dortmund, Germany on July 2 and 3.
