Bayern Munich Sporting Director Matthias Sammer announced at a press conference Franck Ribery will return to training on July 15 for the club.

Ribery, a finalist for the Ballon d'Or last season, missed the World Cup with a back injury. Without the reigning UEFA Player of the Year, France won its group but was eliminated from the World Cup in the quarterfinals by Germany.

At 31 years old, it is unclear if Ribery will have the opportunity to play in another World Cup. He'll be 35 when the 2018 World Cup kicks off in Russia.

Bayern Munich starts its Bundesliga schedule in late August. The club won another league title last season, the first that manager Pep Guardiola was at the helm. It was unable to repeat as UEFA Champions League winner after being ousted by eventual winner Real Madrid in the semifinals.

Sammer on Ribery's return:

“His back is looking much better. He had a personal fitness trainer and physio on holiday with him and he'll resume training here on 15 July. He might be fit enough for the full program straightaway.”
