West Ham United has signed Ecuadorian international Enner Valencia, the club announced Thursday.
Valencia comes to West Ham from Mexican club Pachuca of Liga MX. Terms of Valencia's deal weren't disclosed, but the Daily Mail reported that West Ham paid Pachuca a transfer fee of £12 million.
The 24-year-old striker scored 18 goals in 23 appearances for Pachuca and most recently starred for Ecuador in the World Cup. He scored all three of the team's goals in Brazil, including both of Ecuador's goals in its 2-1 win over Honduras, its lone victory of the tournament.
Valencia will become the ninth Ecuadorian ever to play in the English Premier League. He joins a West Ham club that finished 13th in the EPL last season.
