Liverpool has signed Atlético Madrid's Javier Manquillo on a two year loan, the club announced Wednesday.
The right back has been with Atlético since 2007, but began his career with Real Madrid. He debuted professionally in La Liga during the 2012/13 season.
According to The Guardian, Atlético can recall Manquillo for an undisclosed fee next summer. Liverpool can buy the 20-year-old outright in 2016.
Manquillo, via LiverpoolFC.com:
"When they tell you Liverpool want to sign you, I think like any player, you are going to be absolutely amazed and you don't think of anything else than going straight there.
Manquillo sustained a vertebrae injury in February on a challenge with Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.
