Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said he believes the transfers the club has made for Frank Lampard and Bacary Sagna were done correctly, The Guardian reports.

Last week, Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger questioned whether Manchester City was violating Financial Fair Play rules after the club acquired Lampard on loan from its MLS team.

Pellegrini, from The Guardian:

“I think as managers we have enough problems with our own teams to be talking about other teams.

“The only thing I can say is that we have important restrictions about the amount of money we can spend, and Frank Lampard was a free player – we didn’t spend any money in bringing him from New York City to Manchester City.”

City and Arsenal will play Sunday in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.
