Defender Per Mertesacker, who was a member of champion Germany at the 2014 World Cup, has announced his retirement from international play, according to SkySports.
Mertesacker becomes the third player to retire from the German national team since the World Cup, joining Philipp Lahm and Miroslav Klose.
The 29-year-old will now focus on his career with Arsenal, where he's played since 2011.

Mertesacker spent 10 years with the German national team, earning 104 caps. He participated in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups, as well as the UEFA Euros in 2008 and 2012.
