Manchester United is nearing a deal with Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria, ESPN.com reported on Saturday citing sources in Spain and England.

Final details of the transfer still must be agreed upon, according to ESPN.com, but the 26-year-old Argentine's deal could be the largest in Manchester United's history.

GLOCKNER: Manchester United's problems lack a quick fix

Real Madrid is reportedly asking for a fee of close to 70 million euros (56 million pounds), which would be be almost 20 million more pounds than the 37.1 United paid to Chelsea for Juan Mata in January.

United appears to have put together the best package of all Di Maria's suitors. French club Paris Saint-Germain pulled out two weeks ago, according to ESPN.

Di Maria, a winger, asked to leave Real Madrid earlier in the week.
