Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has joined AC Milan on a season-long loan, the Serie A club announced Sunday.
The 21-year-old joined Chelsea last summer on an $8 million transfer deal from Dutch club Vitesse. Van Ginkel has made just two Premier League appearances since.

Van Ginkel told AC Milan's team website that he's happy to be joining the club.
"Like I said before, I am happy to be here. I want to get game time and I think that I will have the chance to play at Milan in a great league against strong sides. This is the objective for the season."
Van Ginkel has also made two appearances for the Netherlands in international play.
Chelsea has made several moves in advance of Monday's transfer deadline, loaning van Ginkel and striker Fernando Torres to AC Milan, loaning forward Patrick Bamford to Middlesbrough and signing former QPR striker Loic Remy.
Chelsea has won all three of its Premier League matches so far this season. AC Milan defeated Lazio in its Serie A season opener on Sunday.
