Aston Villa signed Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley on a season-long loan, Aston Villa announced Tuesday.
On Monday, the signing appeared to be in jeopardy when paperwork was filed after the transfer deadline, following an agreement between the two sides to a $12 million deal. The Premier League was expected to rule on the matter on Tuesday.
According to The Guardian, Everton also bid just under $9 million for Cleverley, but United rejected the offer. Cleverley has made 79 appearances for Manchester United since 2011.
Cleverley, 24, has 13 caps for England in international play.
After three weeks of Premier League play, Aston Villa has seven points, while Manchester United has only collected two.
