English Premier League club Manchester City and Serie A side Roma are set to meet in a Tuesday UEFA Champions League group stage match. Manchester City, defending Premier League champion, currently sits in third in the Premiership table with 11 points, while Roma sits at No. 2 in the Serie A table with 15 points.
Roma was dominant in its first Champions League match of this season, defeating CSKA Moscow 5-1. Manchester City nearly drew Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena, but City conceded late to Jerome Boateng, giving Bayern a 1-0 home victory.
Despite its success domestically the past few years, City has struggled to make a serious impact in the Champions League. Last season, the club fell to Barcelona in the first round of the knockout stage. Roma failed to qualify for last year's Champions League.
