Arsenal vs. Anderlecht

Arsenal will face Belgian side RSC Anderlecht in London on Tuesday in the fourth Champions League match for each club. Arsenal won the first meeting on Oct. 22, 2-1, in Brussels.

Arsenal is second in Group D with six points. Anderlecht has just one point, tied with Galatasaray at the bottom of the four-team group. The top two teams in each group advance to the knockout stage. The third place team is placed into the Europa League round of 32.

Borussia Dortmund currently leads the group with nine points in three matches. The German side plays Galatasaray this week. 

In domestic play, Arsenal is currently fourth in the Premier League with 17 points. Anderlecht is first in Belgium's Juliper Pro League with 27 points.

Arsenal

Oct. 22: Arsenal 2, Anderlecht 1

Arsenal won the first ever Champions League meeting between the two sides. Andy Najar scored the game's first goal for Anderlecht in the 71st minute. Kieran Gibbs scored the equalizer for the Gunners in the 89th minute and Lukas Podolski scored the winner in the first minute of stoppage time, helping favored Arsenal escape Belgium with a win. 

Oct. 1: Arsenal 4, Galatasaray 1

Danny Welbeck scored a hat trick to lift the Gunners over Turkish side Galatasaray. It was Welbeck's first hat trick at the senior level. Alexis Sanchez scored the fourth goal for Arsenal. Burak Yilmaz scored Galatasaray's lone goal on a penalty in the 63rd minute. Arsenal's goalie, Wojciech Szczęsny, was given a red card on the play, which led to Yilmaz's penalty. 

Sept. 16: Borussia Dortmund 2, Arsenal 0

After defeating Turkish side Besiktas in the playoff round to qualify for the group stage, Arsenal lost to Dortmund in its first match. The Gunners managed four shots, with only one on target. Dortmund attempted 24 shots, seven of which were on target. The two Dortmund goals came from Ciro Immobile and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Anderlecht

​Oct. 22: Arsenal 2, Anderlecht 1

Anderlecht possessed the ball for just 43 percent of the match, but still managed to out-shoot Arsenal 14-12. Only three attempts were on target and six were blocked. Anderlecht took a 1-0 lead in the second half on a goal from Andy Najar, but Arsenal scored two goals late in the match to earn all three points. 

Oct. 1: Dortmund 3, Anderlecht 0

Dortmund bombarded Anderlecht goalkeeper Silvio Proto with shots. The German side had 18 shots, 10 of which were on target. Three found the back of the net to give Dortmund the win. 

Sept. 16: Anderlecht 1, Galatasaray 1

Dennis Praet scored for Anderlecht in the 52nd minute to give his team a 1-0 lead, but Burak Yilmaz scored in the first minute of added time to tie the match and salvage a point for Galatasaray.
