Both teams trail Chelsea by a double-digit margin, as the league-leading Blues currently have 36 points.
Since its 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Nov. 2, Manchester United has reeled off four straight Premier League victories. Most recently, on Dec. 2, the club topped Stoke City 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Southampton was denied a point at Arsenal when Alexis Sanchez scored in the 89th minute to give the Gunners a victory. Neither team dominated the match, but Arsenal began to exert its authority in the last few minutes of the contest, capping off their efforts with Alexis' game-winning strike from close range.

Yaya Toure gave Manchester City the lead early in the second half, and City was able to overcome a second yellow card from defender Eliaquim Mangala to top Southampton. City scored two goals after Mangala had been sent off, with Frank Lampard converting in the 80th minute and Gael Clichy scoring in the 88th. Saints dropped to third in the Premier League, a point behind the defending champions.

Nathaniel Clyne scored in the 81st minute to earn a point for Saints at Villa Park. Gabriel Agbonlahor scored in the first half for Aston Villa.
12/02: Manchester United 2, Stoke City 1
Goals from Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata gave Manchester United a 2-1 victory over Stoke City. Steven Nzoni leveled the game in the 39th minute after Fellaini gave United the lead, but Mata's second half goal saw United earn a victory at Old Trafford.

Manchester United earned a 3-0 victory over Hull City at Old Trafford for the club's third straight victory. Chris Smalling, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van persie scored for the Red Devils, who controlled the game from the start.
11/22: Manchester United 2, Arsenal 1
Manchester United earned a victory over Arsenal at Emirates Stadium despite only having two shots on target compared to the Gunners' nine. United took the lead in the second half with a Kieran Gibbs own goal, and Wayne Rooney scored on a counter attack in the 85th minute to give the Red Devils a 2-0 lead. Returning from injury, Olivier Giroud scored in the 90th minute for Arsenal.
