USA draws 'Group of Death' for Women's World Cup

The United States women's national team has named the roster for its January training camp in Carson, Calif., ahead of this summer's World Cup.

Head coach Jill Ellis will bring 29 players to the camp, including all 24 members of the recent International Tournament of Brasilia squad. The roster is headlined by stars Abby Wambach and 2014 U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year Lauren Holiday.

The camp will open on Jan. 5 and continue until Jan. 25 leading up to a pair of friendly matches in Europe. On Feb. 8, the team will play France in Lorient before facing off with England on Feb. 13 in Milton Keynes.

The women's national team dropped to No. 2 in the FIFA world rankings for the first time since March 2008 when Germany took over the top spot in December.

The U.S. will open World Cup play on June 8 against Australia in Winnipeg.
