Going back to Puebla has certainly agreed with U.S. forward Herculez Gomez.

Back at the club where he won the Liga MX Clausura golden boot back in 2010, Gomez tallied his third goal in five matches across all competitions in his second tour with the Mexican club, scoring in a 2-1 win over Merida in Copa MX action Tuesday night.

Gomez, who last played for the U.S. men's national team in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup, latched onto a free kick and headed it home by the post to open the scoring in the 33rd minute. It was his second goal in the competition, with the other coming against Atlante on Jan. 21. His other came in league play against Veracruz four days earlier.

Puebla got the winner through Eisner Loboa in the 89th minute and sits atop its Copa MX group three games through the six-game group stage.
