The Ice Man is heating up.

Icelandic-American U.S. men's national team forward Aron Johannsson scored for a second straight game, tallying the only goal in AZ Alkmaar's 1-0 win over Eredivisie powerhouse Ajax in Amsterdam on Thursday.

Johannsson, who tapped home a goal vs. Heracles on Sunday for his third league goal of the season, turned in ball from close range in the 76th minute for his fourth, leading AZ to a vital victory. With the win, AZ trails Ajax by five points for the league's second Champions League berth.

Simon Poulsen delivered the ball that Johannsson flicked home with his left foot after he gained sound position in front of his marker.

Johannsson, who battled an ankle injury prior to the World Cup but went to Brazil anyway and then required surgery after the competition, departed the match a few minutes prior to full time with what appeared to be an ankle knock. Earlier in the match, Johannsson drew a red card on Ajax's Nikolas Moisander in the 61st minute, helping AZ get the man advantage by forcing the foul with a spin move as he received a pass while being the last man headed toward the Ajax box.
