Moments after Michael Bradley put the U.S. men's national team up 1-0 against Panama, Gyasi Zardes and Clint Dempsey combined to double the American lead.

Zardes, playing in front of his LA Galaxy hometown crowd at the StubHub Center, won a ball in the midfield and started his break down the field. He threaded the defense with a pass to Clint Dempsey, who dribbled past Panamanian goalkeeper Jaime Penedo and scored.

The goal was Dempsey's 40th for the United States.

The U.S. took its 2-0 lead against Panama into halftime.
