FC Schalke 04 vs. Real Madrid

FC Schalke hosts Real Madrid on Wednesday in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 matchup. Schalke beat Maribor in its last match and finished second in Group G with a 2-2-2 record. Real Madrid was the only team to win all six of its games in the group stage.

Real Madrid won last season's UEFA Champions League title. Los Blancos knocked out Schalke 04 in last year's round of 16, winning 9-2 on aggregate. Real Madrid's convincing victory included a 6-1 win in Germany.
