Burnley escaped past Manchester City on Saturday in one of the biggest upsets of the 2014-15 English Premier League season.
The Clarets, who entered the match vs. the defending EPL champions at 19th in the table, came away with a resounding victory on an absolutely brilliant strike from George Boyd in the 61st minute. A ball was crossed into the box and was headed out right to the oncoming Boyd, who one-timed a left-footed half volley through traffic and into the bottom corner past a helpless Joe Hart.
Despite being outmatched for most of the contest—the Citizens enjoyed 70 percent possession and more than twice as many shots on goal—Boyd's moment of genius was all Burnley needed in its 1-0 victory.
Manchester City is in second in the EPL table on 58 points from 29 matches, but trails Chelsea (which has two games in hand) by five points. Burnley still sits in the relegation zone in 18th place on 25 points, but is just one point behind Sunderland.
