With the U.S. men's national team absorbing pressure from Denmark and in need of relief, Jozy Altidore provided just that and then some in the first half of their friendly on Wednesday.

Altidore muscled off two defenders to latch onto a seemingly ordinary early cross from Timmy Chandler and hit a first-time left-footed blast to give the Americans a 1-0 lead against the run of play in the 19th minute in Aarhus.

The goal was Altidore's second of the year and 27th of his U.S. career (79 caps). In his return to MLS with Toronto FC, Altidore has two goals, both of which were scored in a season-opening win over the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The lead was also short-lived, as Nicklas Bendtner tallied an equalizer 15 minutes later.
