Franck Ribery will miss Bayern Munich's Bundesliga clash vs. Borussia Dortmund with an ankle injury, the club announced on Thursday.
Ribery will join Arjen Robben and David Alaba on the sideline for league-leading Bayern, which has a 10-point edge over second-place Wolfsburg with eight matches to go in the season. Robben is out with a torn abdominal muscle, while Alaba tore his MCL on international duty for Austria.
“It’s not great. He’s very important to us,” Bayern captain Philipp Lahm told the club's official website. “But there’s nothing we can do. There’s no point in moaning, we have to focus on moving forwards. We have depth in the squad and we have to compensate for the missing players.”
The injuries are welcome news for Dortmund, which is eight points clear of the drop zone and in 10th place after flirting with relegation earlier in the season. Dortmund is unbeaten in its last seven league matches.
