Alejandro Bedoya is coming off another solid display with the U.S. national team, and he followed it up with a solid goal for his club side Nantes in Ligue 1.

WAHL: Bedoya bucks trend for American players abroad

It was an opportunistic goal for the American, as Bedoya latched on to a long throw-in in the attacking half after it deflected backward off the head of a Caen defender. Now at close range, Bedoya still had work to do to get the ball in the back of the net under pressure, but he opened the scoring with a deft finish from a tough angle at close range.

The goal is Bedoya's second of the season, with the other being his fantastic strike from long range against Paris Saint-Germain. However, it wouldn't be enough to secure the win. Caen scored in the 80th minute off a penalty, then again in the second minute of stoppage time to ensure that Bedoya's goal counted for naught.

Fortunately for Bedoya, Nantes sits comfortably mid-table even with the loss, a long way off the drop zone.
